The Quest for Artificial Intelligence

The inherent problem with algorithms whether they are based on neural networks, genetic algorithms, knowledge discovery systems or any other type of pattern recognition software is the paradox in automated pattern discovery systems in extracting random data sets and the association of interestingness as a measure of the usefulness of the data patterns revealed, because there is no prior knowledge of the likely interesting data associations to be found before automation. “If you do not expect it, you will not find the unexpected, for it is hard to find and difficult.” (Padmanabhan & Tuzhilin, 1999)

So, you see the dilemma for artificial intelligence is the probability, that a rule exists, that maps one association to another with the subjective attributes of unexpectedness is present in the fact that the unexpected is expected in the probability of chance relationships existing in any given time frame.

Many algorithms exist in determining patterns of interestingness, these then can be used as a measure of the expected quality of the data retrieval, the main problem with this approach would seem the probability of randomness in any given set of data. The random nature of data aggregation assumes that while some methods would filter interesting patterns, it would also be conceivable that many more one dimensional patterns would not be recovered without techniques that would isolate odd patterns.

Clearly, only understandable patterns can qualify as new knowledge, hence, the importance of interestingness measures in finding and tuning search heuristics in this quest for artificial intelligence.

Read my funny account of life at University.  Well, I hope you find some parts funny; otherwise, I will eat my hat.  I studied Artificial Intelligence and realised its potential. Learn how to score more goals than Casanova. Need I go on and say more? So, take your hand out of the cookie jar and read my story.

HEY BRAZIL: The Footballers' Wives

Today, as I ponder on the World Cup it’s time for the girls to put on their bootts and rock and roll. Let’s hope there is no biting on the pitch. Because life’s a bitch especially if you are married to one. Luckily, I am not married.

World Cup Exclusive: How to Take a Penalty.

Do not look up at the Gods.

Then it's quite simple really, you do not look at the goalkeeper even if like most guys and dolls you like a bit of Italian. Keep your head down and your arms behind the body, that way if the goalkeeper stands still because he has shit himself without the need for toilet paper, which is always a waste of energy. Then if you do this, and the goalkeeper stands still, well if the ball hits him in the goodies or the head especially, then that is good. It is more than likely to bounce off the big head and score. THAT@s HIT WITH Your Rhythm Stick!

Now, “why didn't I think of that” you say. It’s simple logic Sid. You were rolling a spliff at the time. I love you. You have saved the team.

Never Late But Sorry

For The Delay
But, I have been meandering to say this. I wrote this poem some years ago. I hope you like it.

Looking
Tell me with your eyes
Are you lost forever.
Say the words but from the heart.
Let me look in and see the beauty.
One stare says it all
You had it all.
Like flowers that need no clothes
Their beauty takes all.

Warum ist mir das nicht eingefallen? “Why didn’t I think of that?” ~ How to Take a Penalty? World Cup Exclusive

“Why didn't I think of that?” is a common expression of I have been sitting here staring straight at it staring me in the face so “Why didn't I think of that?” Simple Simon says the answer is you were thinking about something else instead. Why has this not occurred to me? It’s simple logic, Sid. And, so on and on.  We can see the treasure chest but not the treasure. As it’s the football season and the fever of the World Cup is upon us let’s not forget about how to take a penalty.

Do not look up at the Gods.

No Pain No Gain

My Latest Book
Read my latest book it's about love, money, luck, and much more.

Someone asked me the other day what my plans are for the future. I said, "I don’t have any, do you?" In fact, I fancy cutting a track, something I have never attempted. I have been waiting to meet the right mixer to mix the music samples with the lyrics I have written. So you see there are plenty of things to keep me active and that is the key word.  Without action there is no progress with your dreams. It’s strange really because I started writing back when I was about 12 years old; I wanted to be writer back then and many other things as well. And why not, no person is chained to one career or job for life. You have a choice. And do not tell me you cannot pursue your dreams because of this or that.

And, if you have any doubts about what you can do because there’re always a few sceptics around those doubting Thomas’s who refuse to believe what is possible here is the answer. A few months ago, while shopping in the local mall I picked up a book its title was “How to talk to girls.” You can always do with some extra tips, I was thinking. My biggest problem has not been how to talk to girls, but how to pick the right ones. Seriously, some of my girlfriends have been more manic then me. Recently, I had one girlfriend, who wanted to marry me after knowing me for only a week, that is either commitment or totally bonkers?

Curious cat, I turned the book over to find out the cost. It turns out that the book was written by an eight year old boy, his name is Alec Greven. So if you still have any doubts about what you can do just carry on sucking on that straw you never know it may just send you to sleep, and then who knows what dreams may come.

There is a very important moral about leaving things until it’s too late. And I will explain. It was many moons ago when I was just another spotted faced youngster with floor mop type hair and just as tingly. Most people although older would remark “oh, what lovely hair” but it drove me crazy sometimes because if there was such a thing as comb that could untangle my mess on top then that would have been a blessing at the time. Come on you inventors invent it.

Anyhow, on with the story, I got carried away there, it happens sometimes. It’s not easy to stay on course, there are often hiccups and distractions along the way, but I know through experience if you are doing the right thing, it’s a lot easier life. It’s simple logic. You don’t have to keep looking over your shoulder.

This is the short version of the story. I was 16 years old, with matted hair and the usual facial spots. My eyes and my thoughts constantly urged to do more and see more of her. You see I was attracted to a young girl of similar age as me who worked at the local supermarket in the nearby town. My grandmother would always do her shopping for the week and it was my duty to help out with the week’s groceries. I made sure each time I went down her aisle and got a chance to find out more about this lass that was from the Midlands, I guess I was attracted not only because she was beautiful, but also it was different to hear a northern accent, and combined with my American accent at the time I did not feel out of place talking to her.

But guess what happened? Just as I had made my mind up to ask her out for a date that week, after many weeks of procrastinating, after waiting weeks to buck up the courage to ask her, it was too late. She told me her and her parents were moving back up north that weekend for good. And I never saw her again after that day. If you snooze you lose. It’s as simple as that.

No person is chained to one career or job.
