The Quest for Artificial Intelligence

The inherent problem with algorithms whether they are based on neural networks, genetic algorithms, knowledge discovery systems or any other type of pattern recognition software is the paradox in automated pattern discovery systems in extracting random data sets and the association of interestingness as a measure of the usefulness of the data patterns revealed, because there is no prior knowledge of the likely interesting data associations to be found before automation. “If you do not expect it, you will not find the unexpected, for it is hard to find and difficult.” (Padmanabhan & Tuzhilin, 1999)

So, you see the dilemma for artificial intelligence is the probability, that a rule exists, that maps one association to another with the subjective attributes of unexpectedness is present in the fact that the unexpected is expected in the probability of chance relationships existing in any given time frame.

Many algorithms exist in determining patterns of interestingness, these then can be used as a measure of the expected quality of the data retrieval, the main problem with this approach would seem the probability of randomness in any given set of data. The random nature of data aggregation assumes that while some methods would filter interesting patterns, it would also be conceivable that many more one dimensional patterns would not be recovered without techniques that would isolate odd patterns.

Clearly, only understandable patterns can qualify as new knowledge, hence, the importance of interestingness measures in finding and tuning search heuristics in this quest for artificial intelligence.

The Million Dollar Question is: Tonight’s EuroMillion Lottery Numbers Are:

I am sitting here thinking about the strategy for tonight’s EuroMillion draw and I decide to stick with the same numbers from last week. My thinking is: Perhaps, I was one week early in my predictions. Who knows what may come, but none the less it’s a strategy of sorts. We shall see what happens.

The Power of Intuition

I believe our intuition is so powerful, that we should trust it more often than we often do. I consider the use of our intuition as our sixth sense. They say we only use about 10 percent of our potential brain power, well, I think, this is an urban myth. I think we only understand currently around 10 percent of the potential of our brains, otherwise, why would evolution evolve a large brain for our species? Because, we should not forget that just because we use the almighty word “human” to describe our species we are only just another animal that evolved, and we know many animals like dogs have super senses like smell and hearing. Read – The Secret of Intuition.
I know with intuition, it is often that salient voice trying to guide you, but for some inescapable reason we often ignore the advice and we wished sometime later that we had followed the advice. The power of our intuition is our sixth sense; perhaps, over the passage of evolutionary time we have forgotten how to fully use its abilities. Why, is the million dollar question and answer? Perhaps, we just got lazy, just a thought.

Tales of the Unexpected: The Salesman’s Tale

Ok, this is the short version because I am a lazy turd and I will tell you now. I had been sent out to a remote farm, which I had trouble even finding. So I stopped the car and pulled over on the side of the road. I was about to phone the office and explain when my eyes caught sight of an old wooden sign lying by the roadside at the edge of the forest. Not in a million years would you have found the entrance it was so concealed, and I was directly opposite. It was just a farm track leading down into the forest.

As I snaked my way down the track all I could see was a dark forest all around me. It was a sunny day, but the forest had grown like a tunnel all you could see was the darkest of the forest above and around the car as I made my way down the bumpy track. Finally, I reached the farmhouse which was set in a clearing surrounded by forest for miles, it was like a scene from “Hansel and Gretel” by the Brothers Grimm. I got out of the car and called out; it was a few minutes before a man appeared.
New Haven, England

My first impression (and this is why you should not make assumptions and I didn’t make many afterward), and it is human nature to make them, was this person doesn’t need what I’m selling – they need a whole new makeover and wardrobe. I introduced myself and he began to explain what he wanted.

All this time I had to keep a straight face. Because this is England and a stiff upper lip, it’s what’s expected. I had never seen anything like it; maybe in a poor country, you might experience the same. The farmer had more flies crawling on his face than flies on a dead carcass. And to top it off, he invited me into his home for a cup of tea. Well, you would never believe it; the kitchen was crawling with flies on everything that was visible, up and down, and in and out flies were everywhere.

The next thing the farmer’s wife appeared and yes she was crawling with flies as well. I just thought the whole experience was a set up the whole place stank of crap, but the weirdest thing throughout my conversation with this couple was they never once made an attempt with their hands to shoo the flies away from their faces. Literally, I don’t know about you, but when just one fly lands on me I’m like a raving Looney.

Anyhow, a lot more happened, but I haven’t got time to write it just now. OBTW I closed and made a sale.

Just How Old Do You Have To Be To Make Money? It's Never Too Late

I ask this question because many people always seem to have an excuse why they cannot do something right now. Some time ago this happened to me, for all you agnostics out there in cyberspace, because when you think about it, whose fish bowl are we in anyway, yours or mine? And, if you have any doubts about what you can do, because there are always a few sceptics around those doubting Thomas’ that refuse to believe what is possible, here is the answer.

A few months ago, while shopping in the local mall I picked up a book its title was “How to talk to girls.” You can always do with some extra tips, I was thinking. My biggest problem has not been how to talk to girls, but how to pick the right ones. Seriously, some of my girlfriends have been more manic than me. Recently, I had one girlfriend, who wanted to marry me after knowing me for only a week, that is either commitment or totally bonkers?

Curious cat, I turned the book over to find out the cost. It turns out that the book was written by an eight year old boy, his name is Alec Greven. He is a bit older now; this was a few years ago.  But, I have still made my point. Just how old do you have to be to make money? You work it out.

So, if you still have any doubts about what you can do just carry on sucking on that straw you never know it may just send you to sleep, and then who knows what dreams may come.

There’s an old saying, “you have to be up early, to catch the worm.” Otherwise amigo, hasta la vitas, senoritas.

Are you listening,  what are you dreaming?

As Jesus said, “belief is everything.”
